    Hybrid (on-site & online)

Following Charité’s activities with the Robert Koch Institute during the WHO AMR Awareness Week 2024, we are pleased to announce a hybrid symposium focusing on carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) – one of the most urgent AMR threats in Europe.

This full-day event will bring together experts from science, healthcare, and policy to discuss the clinical and institutional challenges of CRE, share lessons from Ukraine-Germany partnerships, and strengthen cross-border collaboration to enhance AMR resilience.

The symposium is jointly organized by Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Robert Koch Institute, and the First Medical Union Lviv to foster dialogue, exchange technical expertise, and promote sustainable partnerships supporting AMR preparedness in Ukraine and the wider region.

    Event Goals

    • Strengthen clinical and institutional AMR partnerships between Ukraine, Germany, and international collaborators
    • Highlight the urgency of AMR in Europe, using CRE as a concrete example
    • Map ongoing internationally led Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and AMR surveillance initiatives across Ukraine to identify synergies and improve coordination
    • Facilitate technical exchange and twinning support for CRE prevention, diagnostics and treatment
    • Promote jointly defined next steps and a coordinated international approach to AMR resilience
